BV Day

The day was Friday, February 3rd , after a series of sharp corners on the bus, the large, steep slopes of Buena Vista came into view.  Evan, Gabe, and I swallowed down the excitement, barely able to contain it. We had been waiting for weeks to all be able to venture to Buena Vista and have a session together. Once inside the massive wooden chalet, teachers shouted instructions to all of the rowdy Trek students, trying to control their apprehension.
We picked up our tickets from the counter, sifting through the crowds to get outside. We went up the Julia ski lift to get a warm-up run in before we started to migrate toward the terrain park. The sun glistened off the fresh groomed corduroy slopes. I fastened my bandanna tighter around my face to keep it from freezing. I cruised down the slopes casually, the motions of snowboarding feeling natural, watching my friends carve in a rhythmic pattern, side to side,  in front of me. We reached the bottom, and went to spend the rest of the day in the terrain park. It was a good day.    - elijah lash
