Dude.

The word I choose is dude.  Dude means ‘ a stylish fastidious man ‘ which has obviously changed over time.  The word probably originated from the German language in the late 19th century. Dude is used all too commonly considering the fact that the word dude means ‘fool’ in German dialect. If someone was to call another person by dude, they would be calling them ‘fool’, which in my opinion, would be offensive. But, not many people know the origin of the word, so, it doesn't really matter.  -djp
